Just a few chickens

Two Wyandotte chickens sitting head to tail.

We didn’t plan on farming at this scale (even though we still would be considered a micro-farm). We didn’t plan on buying a specialty food store. We didn’t plan on living in Rangeley long-term. I (Doris) didn’t plan on leaving my career to farm and run a farm stand.

Luckily, Toby, Natalie and I embrace adventure. So, here we are.

We decided to buy just a few chickens for Natalie’s 11th birthday.

Current count:

70 hens; 6 roosters

5 pigs

Gardens that have gone from the overambitious to the potentially manageable.

Approximately 12 seasonal employees

Many dedicated farm volunteers

Natalie will be turning 17 this year. Toby has his eye on cows and sheep.
